Producer-entertainer Dick Clark is recovering from a mild stroke, his publicist said Wednesday.

Clark issued a statement saying he expected to be recover from the stroke -- suffered earlier this week -- in time for his traditional New Year's Eve telecast from Times Square in New York.

"The doctors tell me I should be back in the swing of things before too long," said Clark, "so I'm hopeful to be able to make it to Times Square to help lead the country in bringing in the New Year once again."

Clark, 75, has hosted the "New Year's Rockin' Eve" special on ABC-TV for more than 30 years. He is also a producer of the Golden Globe Awards, scheduled to be presented Jan. 16 in ceremonies to be televised by NBC.
