The scenery looked like a prom store window when the Belle Vernon Area High School prom committee took the stage for "Fashion Comes Alive," a prom fashion show.
Staged Feb. 24, it was an exciting evening at the high school. The show also served as the junior class fund-raiser for the upcoming prom.
Directed by Jim Del Verme and assisted by Leigh Ann Leach, the fashion show was comprised of entertainment and prom apparel.
Kicking off the event was Nicole Doctorick as the janitor checking in on the shop.
Members of the prom committee acted as mannequins while dressed in prom attire from Wedding World and Ptaks.
The store came to life as each couple stepped forward to show off their fashions.
A guest performance to Britney Spears' "Toxic" by Courtney Connolly was a showstopper, and though still in tuxes, the boys attempted to dance along with her.
Announcer J.J. Blair continued the show by introducing another set of models decked out for the evening.
Overall, the show was an entertaining and creative way to raise money for the prom.
The Belle Vernon prom committee is sponsored by teacher Chris Giannamore. Hairstyles for the show were provided by Carrie Holeman, Karen Nelson, and Gary Nester of the Cosmetology Academy at Douglas Education Center, and make-up was done by students at Douglas Education Center's Savini Special Make-up Effects School.
Terry Evans and his shop classes, as well as Lynne Ferguson and her art classes were responsible for the fashion show set.
Additional thank yous went out to Anthony Calderone, Pat Donohoe, and Chad Wall, members of the sound and light crew, Principal Gregory Zborovancik, and all of the faculty and staff for their time and cooperation.
Auction materials were donated by various businesses in the Mon Valley. Belle Vernon's prom is set for May 14 on the Gateway Clipper.
Jenny Miller is a senior at Belle Vernon Area High School.
