Prominent North Side funeral director dies

One of Pittsburgh's prominent funeral directors has died. Odell Robinson Jr., of the North Side, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Allegheny General Hospital. He was 79. Mr. Robinson opened his first funeral home at 614 N. Taylor Ave. on the North Side in 1950. In 1977, he and his son, Odell Robinson III, opened a second funeral home at 2025 Perrysville Ave., also on the North Side. Mr. Robinson was a World War II veteran and a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church on the North Side. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Odell Robinson Funeral Home on Perrysville Avenue. At 7:30 p.m., Masonic services will be conducted. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with interment in Highwood Cemetery on the North Side.
