UPPER BURRELL: Penn State New Kensington men's basketball team has canceled its Jan. 2 nonconference game at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland.

Penn State athletic director Bob Darby said he called off the game because he wasn't sure enough Penn State players would be back from Christmas break to fill a lineup.

The game may be rescheduled for later in the season or another nonconference opponent, such as the Washington & Jefferson College junior varsity team, scheduled to fill the maximum of 26 regular-season contests permitted to the local Lions, Darby said.

The local Lions are scheduled to start conference play 7 p.m. Jan. 9 against Jefferson Community College at home.
