Public workshop on Route 30 plan tonight
The Smart Growth Partnership of Westmoreland County will hold its second public workshop for the Route 30 Master Plan at 7 p.m. today at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
Local leaders, planners and community members are invited to help devise a vision and plan for a 40-mile stretch of the historic Lincoln Highway that connects the small cities and growing suburbs east of Pittsburgh to the Laurel Highlands, said Smart Growth Executive Director Alex Graziani.
Smart Growth is looking to use proven transportation and land-use planning approaches to develop cost-conscious investment priorities, intelligent strategies for congestion management and multi-municipal development regulations and design guidelines, Graziani said.
"When complete, the Route 30 Master Plan will become a strategic blueprint for Westmoreland County's economic growth corridor," Graziani said.
The workshop will be held on campus in the Hempfield Room of Chambers Hall.
