Python stolen in South Huntingdon

A 6-foot-long snake has been reported stolen from a garage in South Huntingdon Township.

State police at Belle Vernon said a Mexican ball python, owned by Adam Yackovich, 21, of West Newton, was taken Friday evening from a garage at the Yackovich residence on Bells Mills Road. Also taken was a 75-gallon aquarium that housed the snake.

Police said the garage was open at the time of the theft, between 6:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police at 724-929-6262.

Uniontown

The Fayette County HealthChoices Advisory Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. July 24 in the Braddock Room (basement) of the Fayette County Health Center, 100 New Salem Road, Uniontown.

Ligonier

PennDOT District 12 would like to alert motorists that Route 30 in Ligonier borough and township will undergo evening road construction July 18 through 20. The work is scheduled to be done between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. for traveler convenience. The limits of the paving project are East Main Street to West Main Street.

Flagmen and the Ligonier Police Department will be controlling traffic at the intersections of East Main Street, Route 711, Giant Eagle and West Main Street. Delays may be expected, so please add extra time to your travel plans.

PennDOT asks motorists to drive carefully, give themselves enough distance between vehicles in front of them, and slow down. Posted speed limits are for optimum roadway conditions.

Greensburg

PennDOT has scheduled the following projects for Westmoreland County this week, weather permitting:

  • Crews will install pipes and drains on Route 2025, or Clay Pike, in Mount Pleasant Township.

  • Road shoulders will be repaired on Old Route 119 in East Huntingdon Township.

    Mill Run

    The Springfield Township Volunteer Hose Co. will hold its 2002 Firemen's Fair from July 22 to 27 at the Mill Run recreation field off Route 381 in Mill Run. Nightly entertainment includes:

  • July 22: Crowning of queen; one-man band.

  • July 23: Parade at 7 p.m.; Connie's Karaoke.

  • July 24: Tom Pipak & Elvis; fireworks night

  • July 25: Gospel night.

  • July 26: Gashouse.

  • July 27: Garden tractor pull at 3 p.m.; Spring and the Springtime Band.

    Mt. Pleasant Twp.

    At 1:50 p.m. Monday, Lacey Lynn Urban, 19, of Rockwood, allegedly entered Leeper's Market on Route 31, approached owner Richard Leeper, who was working in the office, and said, "Give me your money!"

    Leeper reportedly then approached Urban and asked what she wanted. She repeated, "Give me your Money! I have a knife!"

    Leeper then allegedly grabbed Urban. Urban allegedly made stabbing motions at Leeper with a hairbrush she had in her shirt pocket.

    Urban was arrested and taken to Westmoreland County Jail, state police at Greensburg said.
