One of the latest beverages on the shelves at area Wine & Spirits Shoppes is a refreshing ice apple wine from the leading producer of the product category.

Domaine Pinnacle, a family-owned orchard and winery on the southern slopes of Pinnacle Mountain in Quebec, blends six varieties of apples that are hand-picked after the first frost and pressed at the beginning of winter. About 80 apples go into the making of each bottle.

A sip of the rich and intense wine offers a crisp apple flavor that balances acidity with sweetness. All that's missing is the crunch.

Domaine Pinnacle Ice Apple Wine pairs well with cheese, pate or dessert -- or as a dessert itself. It sells for $29.99.
