Quigley Catholic mock trial team advances to national finals
Students from Quigley Catholic High School in Baden are headed to national mock trial finals in May in Raleigh, N.C.
The team won the 32nd Annual Pennsylvania Bar Association Statewide High School Mock Trial Competition on Friday and Saturday, held at the Dauphin County Courthouse in Harrisburg.
Pennsylvania has one of the largest competitions of its kind in the nation, with 314 teams from 264 high schools competing on the district and regional levels.
Participating on Quigley's team are students: Sarah Belsterling, T.J. Belsterling, George Burnet, Emily Chinchilla, Emily Cronin, Megan Gannon, Gabrielle Ingros, Ellen Kruczek, Austin Kuntz, Annamarie Lovre and Jacob Stumm. The teacher coach is Timothy Waxenfelter, and Jennifer Popovich is the attorney adviser. Quigley's mock trial team won past statewide competitions in 1990, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2002 and 2013.
