Range Resources' Ray Walker named Engineer of the Year
Marcellus Shale Coalition co-founder Ray N. Walker Jr. was named Engineer of the Year by the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania, which also honored other professionals and projects.
Walker received his award at the society's 128th annual banquet on Wednesday night for his work in Marcellus shale natural gas development.
He is senior vice president and chief operating officer at Range Resources Corp., which has a regional headquarters in Cecil, and he led the company's work to drill the first Marcellus shale gas well about eight years ago.
Walker was the Marcellus coalition's first chairman.
Also honored were Pennsylvania Turnpike reconstruction from Irwin to New Stanton, for transportation; West Penn Power's Whitely Substation work to withstand mine subsidence, industrial; David L. Lawrence Convention Center riverfront plaza, commercial; and a wastewater project in Italy designed by AquaTech International Corp. of Cecil, sustainable design.
