Donation hours at the Phil Vogel Blood Donation Center in Beaver have changed.

The donation center, which is at 133 Friendship Circle, will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, according to a statement from American Red Cross Blood Services, Greater Alleghenies Blood Services Region.

The donation center will no longer be open for whole blood donations Mondays or Fridays, but it will remain open several days a week for platelet donations by appointment.

The change reflects recent donation patterns and donor preferences, Red Cross spokeswoman Marianne Spampinato said in the statement.

All blood types, especially O positive, O negative, A negative and B negative, are urgently needed.
