Red Cross to sell office building on Boulevard of the Allies
Another Downtown office building is being put up for sale.
American Red Cross of Southwestern Pennsylvania plans to list its four-story building at 225 Boulevard of Allies once it selects a real estate brokerage firm to market the property and help determine the sales price, a spokesman said.
This will mark the fifth Downtown office building or complex to go on the market this year. Recently listed for sale are the four buildings of Gateway Center, EQT Tower (formerly Dominion Tower), the Henry W. Oliver Building and Regional Enterprise Tower.
“We need a better location to house our response vehicles and provide easier access to our headquarters for our volunteers,” said Red Cross spokesman Brian Knavish.
“Our goal is to remain in Allegheny County, either at a suburban location or in the city. Our real estate company will help us not only sell our building but help us find a new location,” he said.
Red Cross owns the building with Point Park University. The 37,000-square-foot structure has a garage on the first level, offices and classrooms on the second, most of the offices on the third and storage and meeting areas on the fourth.
It currently employs 33 at the Downtown office, plus five volunteers on a permanent basis, Knavish said.
The Red Cross already has its Washington County building on the market. The local chapter serves Allegheny, Greene, Fayette and Washington counties.
