DETROIT - Center Kris Draper re-signed with the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday, agreeing to a four-year contract.

Draper had career-high 24 goals last season and won the Selke Trophy as the NHL's top defensive forward.

"He has been a vital part of this team's success," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said. "... Having him back will help our club remain competitive for seasons to come."

Draper, 33, will play for Team Canada in the World Cup of Hockey next month.

The Red Wings acquired Draper from the Winnipeg Jets in 1993.
