Only a couple of years ago Garbage appeared headed toward the recycling bin, but the veteran U.S. band has risen from the ashes with a new album and tour.

Shirley Manson, Butch Vig, Duke Erikson and Steve Marker will kick off a U.S. and European tour July 27 in Costa Mesa, Calif., in support of their album "Bleed Like Me," Pollstar reported.

The group will be jogging back and forth with Mexican, U.S. and European dates through October.

Vig told Chartattack fear of burnout was drive behind the band's new thrust.

"When we got back together we felt a sense of desperation, like we were losing this band and we had to play as if our lives depended on it," he said.
