Respironics announces promotions

Respironics Inc. promoted Mark D'Angelo to director of marketing, sleep therapy, and Kurt Yaeger to director of marketing, oxygen, in the company's home care division. D'Angelo joined Respironics in 1999 from Sunrise Medical, where he was senior product manager for sleep products. Before that, he was a project manager for Kennametal Inc. Yaeger also joined the company in 1999 from Kendall-Sherwood-Davis & Geck, where he was market manager.

MANUFACTURING

  • Karroll Booth , senior industrial hygiene adviser, corporate health environment and safety group at Bayer Corp., retired after 46 years of service to the company. Booth, a Korean War veteran, joined Mobay Chemical Co., then a joint venture of Monsanto Corp. and Bayer, in 1955 at their New Martinsville, W.Va., manufacturing plant.

  • Monroeville-based Great Lakes Transportation, following reorganization, named on the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range Railway: Ted L. Frase , director, administration and human resources; James G. Persons , director, operating systems; John R. Raiha , manager, safety; James A Rohweder, superintendent, operations; and Michael J. Urie , chief mechanical officer. On the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad, the company named: Steven R. Bender, chief engineer; Gordon E. Lloyd Jr. , manager-purchasing & stores; and Donald F. Muscarella , superintendent-mechanical.

  • Sisterson & Co. promoted Michael M. Comstock to director of taxes; Mark E. Atkinson to network manager; Kimberly P. Morgan and Donna Sadusky to supervisor; Alyssa A. Lee, Erica L. Monaco, Joseph Munizza, Timothy S. Snatchko, Michelle D. Solkovy, Scott A. Syglowski and Kevin A. Van Asdalan , all to senior associate. The firm also hired David M. Duffus as consulting manager; Mary C. Sleighter and Patricia G. Spencer as tax managers; Jeffrey B. Manners and Eric R. Watson as senior associates; Sharon M. Karlovits, John H. Monhemius, Pamela L. Swarmer, Tami S. Swartzlander, Susan M. Tunnecliffe and Evan L Uselton as associates; and Deborah L. Maszkiewicz as an administrative associate.

    LEGAL

  • Karen Y. Bonvalot and Patricia Lindauer were named shareholders in the Pittsburgh office of Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling. Bonvalot is part of the firm's litigation department while Lindauer works in the company's real estate and finance department.

  • Meyer Darragh Buckler Bebenek & Eck named Constantine J. Passodelis, Paul R. Robinson and Rachelle M. Wassel equity partners in the firm. Passodelis co-chairs the firm's professional liability practice group, Robinson co-chairs the company's product liability practice group and Wassel defends organizations regarding cases of aviation, insurance and products liability and toxic torts. Meyer Darragh elected as non-equity partners Eric R.I. Cottle , co-chair of the municipal and civil rights practice group, and Lee R. Demonsky, who represents municipalities and organizations in lawsuits ranging from personal injury to family law.

  • Kenneth F. DiBucci was promoted to director of client services at Levy Industrial. He joined Levy in 2000 as an account executive. Prior to that, he worked as an account manager at Orbital Engineering in Philadelphia. He also was a territory manager for Klingspor Abrasives.

  • Named as officers for Achieva, formerly the ARC Allegheny, were: President and Chief Executive Officer Marsha Blanco ; Vice President of External Relations Janet Emery ; Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Gary Horner , RAMS president; Vice President of Administration and Corporate Secretary Connie Reilsono ; Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ray Rykaceski , president, Compro; Corporate Treasurer Cindy Short; Tim Pawol , president, The Family Trust; and Nancy Murray , president, The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh. Achieva is the parent organization of Compro, RAMS and The Family Trust.

  • Sister's Place Inc. of Clairton hired Leslie Anne Vassilaros as executive director. She holds a master of science degree in community health administration and wellness promotion from California College for Health Sciences and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ohio University. She also is a graduate of the National Victim Assistance Academy, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice.

  • Maryjean Lovett was elected to the Pittsburgh-based Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children board of trustees. Lovett is director of student alumni programs at the University of Pittsburgh and serves as an adviser to the Blue and Gold Society there. She holds a master's degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh and an undergraduate degree in speech pathology and audiology from Carlow College.

    TECHNOLOGY

  • Larry Hampshire was named president and chief executive officer and Timothy Mayo was appointed chief technical officer of Monroeville-based The National Business Network Inc., an Internet service provider.

    OTHER

  • Bryan A. Cox joined Leetsdale-based Associations Book Distributors International as director of finance and information technology. He has more than 25 years' accounting, finance and IT experience and worked as chief financial officer at Sharp Visions Inc. in Pittsburgh.

  • H.B. Maynard and Co. Inc. of Pittsburgh promoted Jason Bocz from associate consultant to staff consultant and Christy Bures from account manager to senior account manager. The company also hired Megan Hebda, C. Mark Lukehart and Dave Mangano as associate consultants and Roger Freisleben as a staff consultant.
