Retailers may expand in Pittsburgh area

At least 27 retailers, restaurants and grocery stores, including local supermarket giant, Giant Eagle, are looking to expand in the Pittsburgh region, a national real estate expert said Tuesday.

Firms looking to expand or open new faciliites in the region include Rue 21, Mattress Discounters, L.A. Fitness, Urban Active, Costco, Golden Corral, Sonic and Panera Bread, said Robert Bach, chief economist for the Grubb & Ellis Co. on Tuesday. Others include Aldi, Walgreens, CVS, and Best Buy, he said.
