Two very important things to note about "Vampires Suck:" The film is a spoof of the "Twilight" movies, and the title is a good indication of where the level of wit lies.
The movie is written and directed by two guys who have dealt in this kind of material before: Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer also have "Date Movie," "Disaster Movie" and "Epic Movie" on their resumes, so they apparently know what their audience wants.
The film operates with lots of "Mad" magazine-style puns and gags. Bella is Becca; vampire clan the Cullens become the Sullens; and the Washington town of Forks is now Sporks.
It's all very silly, but only occasionally generates laughs. Newcomer Jenn Proske effectively nails Kristen Stewart's nervous tics and halting speech, and the directors have fun poking at the original films' overheated moodiness: One playlist on Becca's iPod is labeled "Teen Angst Mix."
Unfortunately, that's about the cleverest thing you're going to find here. The rest of it is aggressively dumb, which isn't such a sin. But it is mostly unfunny, and that's living death in a movie like this.
Rated PG-13 for crude sexual content, comic violence, language and teen partying.
