A large reward for information on the Edvard Munch masterpieces stolen from an Oslo museum has so far produced only psychics’ tips. “These tips have not yet been of a nature that we decided to pursue them,” Iver Stensrud, head of the police investigation, told Aftenposten. Oslo officials announced June 1 that information leading to the return of “The Scream” and “Madonna” would be rewarded with a payment of more than $300,000. An armed gang ripped the pictures from the wall last year in a brazen daytime robbery. Stensrud said that he did not expect an immediate payoff from the reward. But he hopes that eventually he will hear from a lawyer hoping to negotiate on behalf of a criminal who knows the pictures’ whereabouts.
