Rice meets with slain Russian editor's kin

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met Tuesday with the family of a slain Russian journalist, assuring them she will press Moscow to solve the killing.

Rice met with the wife and brother of Paul Klebnikov, the editor of the Russian edition of Forbes magazine who was killed July 9, 2004, in Moscow. Two people have been charged with the killing and Russian officials are continuing investigations.

State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said it was an issue the United States consistently raised with Russian authorities, including last month when Rice was in Moscow.

"With the family today, she reaffirmed our interest in the case and our intention to continue to pursue it with Russian officials, so that those responsible for the murder can be brought to justice," he said.

He added Washington would "continue to urge the government of Russia to pursue the investigation vigorously to a conclusion."
