A Latrobe construction company was the apparent low bidder to make improvements to Route 28 just north of the Route 356 interchange next year.

According to PennDOT, Derry Construction Company Inc. will likely begin work on the $2.81 million project in March 2006, working on improvements to concrete, drainage, guiderails, resurfacing and minor structure rehabilition. The work will cover a 2.9 mile stretch of Route 28, starting just north of the Route 356 interchange moving north into South Buffalo Township.

The contract for the work will not be awarded until the bids are reviewed.

For more information on construction projects across the area, visit PennDOT District 10's Web site at www.dot.state.pa.us, and follow the "Regional information" link to District 10. Weekly construction and maintenance schedules are on the site.
