An Ohio man who held up two stores dressed as a chicken and one restaurant as Santa Claus is now dressed as a convict.

Donald Haines, 39, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for robbing two Kroger stores and a Wendy's restaurant in Columbus. He had worked for Kroger at one time as a mascot, dressed that time as a penguin.

Raines said he committed the crimes to pay off his debts, which exceeded $10,000, WCMH-TV, Columbus, said. He said at the sentencing hearing Thursday he had hoped the costumes would hide his identity and help calm the clerks he robbed.
