North Huntingdon police said a masked gunman held up the Parkvale Savings Bank near Norwin Towne Square at 10:24 a.m.
An FBI spokesman in Pittsburgh said the suspect, carrying a black revolver and wearing latex gloves, entered the bank and ordered the customers and employees onto the floor.
The man then went behind the counter, taking money from a cash drawer before fleeing on foot toward the rear of the building, officials said. He was carrying the money in a white plastic bag, police said. No car was seen, according to the FBI.
Witnesses described the suspect as a white male in his 20s, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9, with a stocky build, the FBI said. He was last seen wearing a full-face black cloth mask, tan baseball cap, gray sweatshirt and tan pants.
Some clothes were found on Colonial Manor Road near White Oak, and police were investigating whether those clothes had been worn by the robber.
A man fitting a similar description is wanted for the March 14 robbery of a Great American Federal office on Lincoln Way in White Oak, Allegheny County. That suspect was described as a stocky white male in his 20s, 5-foot-6 and carrying a small handgun. He concealed his face with a black hooded sweatshirt, police said, and escaped on foot after scuffling with a customer.
Parkvale Savings Bank Vice President Nancy Kelly said no one was hurt in the robbery but declined additional comment. The same branch was robbed Aug. 16, and a Verona man was arrested in connection with the crime after a high-speed chase that ended in Wilkinsburg.
No further details were available. Anyone with information is asked to call North Huntingdon police at (724) 863-8800 or the FBI's Charleroi office at (724) 483-3122.
