The Robert Morris men's basketball team received a verbal commitment Thursday from a point guard who averaged 32.3 points last season and scored a game-high 55 points.

Jimmy Langhurst, a 5-foot-10 senior from Willard High School in Willard, Ohio, chose Robert Morris over Youngstown State and Wagner, which is in the Northeast Conference with Robert Morris. He also looked at schools in the Mid American Conference.

"I really like Robert Morris' facility, and the coaching staff, and the team," Langhurst said. "I also like where the program is headed. I hope to come in and have an opportunity to help the team continue its success."

On his visit to Robert Morris, Langhurst spent some time in open gym with the Colonials' players. He will be the backup point guard to junior Derek Coleman.

Langhurst said he believes he will fit in with Robert Morris' up-tempo style.

An All-Ohio First-Team selection, Langhurst is the school's all-time career leader in points with 2,199, despite being double-teamed most of the time for Willard, which was 24-1 last season and was ranked as the No. 2 team in the state in Division II by USA Today.

"Jimmy is more of a scoring point guard," said Willard coach Greg Nossaman. "For us to be successful this season, he had to score a lot. He also added 4.5 assists per game. He is a very good athlete and could have played any sport, but we were fortunate enough to have him choose basketball. I believe he will be successful at Robert Morris."
