Ben Roethlisberger will meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Friday, Steelers' team president Art Rooney II said today in a statement released by the team.

"Ben Roethlisberger is scheduled to meet with Commissioner Goodell on Friday to discuss Ben's upcoming suspension," Rooney said. "We are looking forward to hearing from the commissioner, but we will not have any further comment until after they speak."

Roethlisberger was suspended for the first six games of the regular season in April for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy after a 20-year-old college student accused him of sexually assaulting her in a Georgia nightclub in March.

The suspension could be reduced to four games Friday if Goodell feels that Roethlisberger's behavior over the past five months warrants such a reduction.

The Steelers' final preseason game is scheduled for Thursday at Heinz Field against Carolina. They open up the season 10 days later against Atlanta at home.
