Oscar-winning director Ron Howard has been tapped to receive the American Cinema Editors' ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award.

Howard will be presented with the award Feb. 19 during the 56th annual ACE Eddie Awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton, The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday.

"Ron Howard has been engaging audiences for decades," the ACE board of directors said in a statement. "His rich body of work represents the best of our industry and captures the depth of the human spirit. We are proud to honor his vast contributions to the entertainment industry with this award."

Howard's most recent work was "Cinderella Man" with Russell Crowe, Renée Zellweger and Paul Giamatti.
