Roundup: Falcons, Vikes, Gators post wins
Tony Marciante drove in two runs thanks to a two-run homer in the fifth as the Connellsville baseball team trounced Uniontown 12-2 on Saturday in Section 2-AAA ion five innings. Marciante became the first Falcon to clear the new fence at Connellsville’s field.
The Falcons (4-0, 8-1) put the game away early thanks to a six-run first inning.
Chris Marsinko, Justin Marsinko, Andy Beucher and Brandon Bryner each tripled for the Falcons. Bryner collected three hits on the day. Anthony Smith picked up a sacrifice fly.
Connellsville pitcher Brent Wilson worked the entire game and posted the win.
Gary King doubled and singled while Howie King finished with a two-bagger for the Red Raiders.
Geibel 10, Cal 5
The Gators remained perfect in section play thanks to a 10-5 win over visiting California on Saturday afternoon.
Dan Chorba tripled and Bobby Jarabeck doubled to lead Geibel’s attack.
Dan Gratchic improved to 5-0 on the season as he posted the win on the mound. Geibel banged out 11 hits on the day.
The Gators (4-0, 6-1) will host Greensburg Central Catholic on Wednesday.

Adam Miscik broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh as he hit a walk-off solo homer to lift Mount Pleasant to a crucial section victory over visiting Belle Vernon.
Eric Leonard fired a two-hitter and earned the win for the Vikings.
Dan Cieply also tossed a two-hitter, but suffered the loss.
The Vikings (4-1, 4-1) will travel to Southmoreland on Tuesday.
Yough 13, SHS 3
Erik Adams ripped a double, but the Southmoreland baseball team was defeated by Yough in six innings.
Mike Mardis suffered the loss for Southmoreland.
The Scotties (0-4, 1-5) will host Mount Pleasant on Tuesday.
