Route 28 closed in Armstrong for 3 weeks

Employees of RAE-LYN assist motorists after an emergency (black) detour was set up on Route 28/66 north on Friday at about 4:30 p.m. Plum Contracting, PennDOT and RAE-LYN, who are involved in the constuction, discovered part of the road giving way while routine work was taking place to straighten one of the curves in the road, on Friday. The incident occurred between Route 1018 (Baum Pump Station Road) and Hoover Road in Boggs. The road is expected to be closed for three weeks with an anticipated reopening by the end of the day on June 21. The posted detour is: Traffic will be taken off Route 28 in West Kittanning to Route 268, to Route 68, to Route 861, to Route 66, and back to Route 28. From the north, traffic will be taken off Route 28 at New Bethlehem to Route 66, to Route 861, to Route 68, to Route 268, and back to Route 28. Motorists are advised to give themselves extra time for their travels.
