MONTREAL — Quebec Remparts coach Patrick Roy and his son were suspended a total of 12 games for a brawl during a game. The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League said Tuesday the former NHL star was suspended five games for conduct related to his team’s fight with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Saturday. Jonathon Roy was suspended seven games for barreling into Bobby Nadeau and repeatedly hitting him. The elder Roy, who was on the bench, denied playing any role in the melee, although he appeared to urge on his son with a wave before he attacked the rival goaltender. College basketball Tennessee guard and leading scorer Chris Lofton has a minor leg injury but is expected to play Thursday against Louisville in the NCAA tournament. Pro basketball Chris Webber is ending his comeback attempt with the Golden State Warriors and will retire after 15 seasons in the NBA. Warriors spokesman Raymond Ridder said Webber will make the announcement at a news conference today. Off the field Former major leaguer Jim Leyritz is being sued in Broward County for wrongful death in connection with a fatal traffic accident in December. The lawsuit asking for at least $15,000 in damages was filed yesterday by the family of 30-year-old Fredia Ann Veitch. Leyritz has previously pleaded not guilty to DUI manslaughter charges stemming from the Dec. 28 accident. • Adam “Pacman” Jones offered a three-hour mea culpa yesterday with someone who knows what it’s like to be an NFL outcast. The troubled cornerback, suspended from the NFL and unlikely to rejoin the Tennessee Titans if he gets to play again, was a guest on Michael Irvin’s radio show amid speculation he could become the Dallas Cowboys’ next reclamation project. • Michael Vick’s trial on state dogfighting charges was rescheduled yesterday for June 27. Surry County Circuit Judge W. Allan Sharrett set a trial date suggested by Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerald Poindexter and Vick’s lawyers, who did not attend the hearing. The trial originally was set for April 2. • Jose Canseco says in his new book that he introduced Alex Rodriguez to a steroids distributor and that A-Rod pursued Canseco’s wife, according to the Web site of freelance writer Joe Lavin.
