Ruling: Brooklyn teacher not a nose biter
Brooklyn science teacher Bryant Murphy has been acquitted of a charge he bit a student's nose, the New York Post said Wednesday.
The case surrounded a clash earlier this year when student Darren Kirkland, now 16, refused to take his seat in Murphy's science class.
Kirkland testified his teacher then bit his nose, but Murphy said Kirkland head-butted him first, smashing his nose against Murphy's.
The New York Criminal Court appeared to agree with Murphy, finding him not guilty of child endangerment, assault and menacing.
Murphy was convicted on one charge of harassment, which will carry a $200 fine.
"He basically got convicted of yelling at the student," said Murphy's lawyer, Brian Perskin.
