Rural Valley driver escapes injury in Route 422 crash
EAST FRANKLIN -- A Rural Valley man escaped with minor injuries after his car went under a stretch of guardrails and down a 30-foot ravine, police said.
Jay Wagner of Diane Drive, Rural Valley, was attempting to change lanes along Route 422, near the Route 28 interchange, at 5:24 p.m. when he struck the rear of another vehicle, causing his car to go off the road and under the guardrail, according to East Franklin Township Police.
Police said Wagner's car then went airborne and witnesses said the car rolled over several times before traveling down the steep ravine. Wagner was able to climb up the embankment to the roadway, police said.
Robert Hulings Jr. of Laura Lane, Kittanning, whose vehicle was struck by Wagner, was not injured, police said.
East Franklin Township and Applewold fire departments assisted at the scene, according to Armstrong 911 dispatch information.
