Ryan Whitney will not play against Sabres tonight

The Penguins will be without defenseman Ryan Whitney for their game against the Buffalo Sabres at Mellon Arena, Tuesday night.

Whitney is nursing a sore groin. He suffered the injury late in third period of an overtime loss to the Maple Leafs Saturday.

Whitney, whose 58 points on the season ranks second among Penguins' defensemen, is nursing a sore groin. He suffered the injury late in third period of an overtime loss to the Maple Leafs in Toronto, Saturday.

Whitney said the he could return for the Penguins' game in Ottawa, Thursday.
