Safety Day in Connellsville

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, more than 2,100 children are reported missing every day. To help reduce this number and keep kids safe, Davies Ford is hosting a "Commitment to Kids" safety day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 9.

Parents can bring their children to Davies Ford, 2551 Memorial Blvd., Route 119, Connellsville, and receive a free safety digital photo I.D. kit.

The electronic (e-mail) delivery to law enforcement officials of a child's digital photo can save critical time, since the chances of safely recovering a child are much greater in the first few hours immediately following a child's disappearance.

Several additional activities dealing with child safety will also be offered.

South Connellsville police officers will be on hand to do fingerprinting. Mercy Hospital will host a bicycle safety program, and the Pennsylvania State Police will teach children about drug awareness.

MacGuyver, a canine member of the Narcotics Division, will also help teach kids drug safety. Fayette Crime Prevention will introduce children to the Eddie Eagle Gun Awareness Program, Fayette EMS and Bullskin Volunteer Fire Department, and will also be hosting safety activities.

There will be prizes, balloons, face-painting, snacks and fun surprises. Let Davies Ford help you set up an I.D. profile for your child. It may be the single most important thing you do for your child this year, officials noted.
