'Sanity' more than fun

‘Sanity' more than fun

As co-sponsors of the National Honor Society at Highlands High School, we would like to thank all of those involved in the recent “Spring Sanity” event. The name implies that it was something fun to keep our students motivated as the year draws to a close but it was so much more.

It was an event that showcased the talents and creativity of our members who tirelessly planned and implemented a series of events including a dunk tank, dodge ball tournament, sumo wrestling and moving survivors ceremony. These activities included students, staff, administrators, aides, custodians, maintenance and café workers coming together for the common goal of raising money to battle cancer.

The result was so much greater than the $3,000 raised. It illustrated the caliber of the honor society members to organize and implement such a large-scale event. It offered the student body a chance to compete in the name of charity, resulting in a general feeling of camaraderie and unity. The event united the school with a feeling of purpose and accomplishment.

We are so very proud of our building and hope that this tradition stays alive for many years to come.
