Saudi authorities Monday executed a Saudi national for killing a man by running over him with his car.

The Interior Ministry said in a statement Issa bin Mazid al-Rouki was beheaded with a sword after being convicted of killing Abdullah Bin Ahmed al-Shahari by running over him several times.

Monday's execution brings to 69 those put to death in the Arab kingdom since the beginning of the year. Thirty-five were executed last year.

Saudi Arabia, which applies strict Islamic laws, imposes the death penalty on convicted murderers, rapists, armed robbers, repeated drug traffickers and Muslims who renounce their religion.
