Southbound traffic on a portion of Saw Mill Run Boulevard will be restricted to a single lane later this week, state Department of Transportation spokesman Jim Struzzi said.

The left southbound lane will be closed between the West End Bridge and the Parkway West interchange starting at 9 a.m. Thursday and lasting around the clock until 3 p.m. Saturday, Struzzi said.

Crews will be doing drainage work and installing concrete barriers in the area as part of the $52.6 million West End Circle reconfiguration, which will eventually allow through-traffic on Saw Mill Run Boulevard to go straight onto the West End Bridge instead of navigating the "circle" formed by local roads. Construction is expected to last until summer.
