A local nonprofit organization will provide free classroom supplies to 14 schools this year.

The Education Partnership in the West End announced on Thursday that it will help more than 4,800 students in schools in Allegheny, Butler and Westmoreland counties. Nearly 30 schools applied for help.

At least 70 percent of students from the participating schools qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The partnership also operates a warehouse where teachers can shop for free supplies.
