Philadelphia Flyers (8-17-4 before Tuesday’s game) at Penguins (13-11-5) When, where: Today, 7:30 p.m. — Mellon Arena Probable goaltenders: Marc-Andre Fleury (14-7-4, 2.91 GAA); Antero Niittymaki (6-13-4, 3.05 going into Tuesday’s game) TV/radio: FSNP/105.9 FM Notable: The Flyers recently waived Petr Nedved for the second time this year, and GM Paul Holmgren told local reporters that he would be permanently assigned to the AHL if he isn’t picked up by another team. … The Flyers have been hit hard lately by injuries, most recently to Mike Richards and Geoff Sanderson, who were both scheduled to undergo surgery yesterday morning. … Coach John Stevens recently told reporters that acquiring the Penguins’ John LeClair probably isn’t a step in the right direction for the franchise.
