Members of the Seneca Valley school board Monday night hired Heather Lewis as the district's new athletic director, replacing Greg Caprara, whose contact was not renewed this summer.

Her annual salary will be $85,000.

Lewis, who lives in Wexford and is the district's first female athletic director, was the chief operating officer for a U.S. Olympic committee national governing body, supporting women's national team qualifications for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

She also served as the head field hockey coach, women's lacrosse coach and assistant athletic director at Bucknell University.

Lewis' athletic background includes regional All-American and All-ACC honors as a member of the University of Maryland field hockey team and also regional All-American recognition for the school's women's lacrosse team.

Lewis has a bachelor's of science degree in zoology and a master's in kinesiology from Maryland.
