An Allegheny County judge Tuesday denied a request to reduce the prison sentence of a Penn Hills man convicted of third-degree murder.
An attorney for Joseph Hall, 19, asked Common Pleas Judge David R. Cashman to reconsider a sentence of 17 1/2 to 35 years in prison for his conviction in the killing of James Stubbs, 17, of Homewood.
Stubbs, a sophomore at Letsche Education Center in Homewood, was shot as he was walking on a street near Lincoln Intermediate School. A jury convicted Hall in November for the Dec. 20, 2006, slaying.
Hall's mother, Cecelia Coleman, contends her son was wrongfully convicted. She held a news conference outside the City-County Building yesterday and said her son is appealing the case.
