The Charleroi girls' soccer team can forget about possibly sharing the Class A Section 2 championship with Serra.
In Wednesday's rematch at Charleroi between the section's top two teams, the front-running Lady Eagles (9-2, 7-0) posted a 1-0 victory to take a two-game lead over the Lady Cougars (8-4, 5-2).
Freshman Megan Sig scored the goal in the 20th minute as Serra extended its winning streak to eight.
It was also the fifth shutout for Serra, which has allowed only three goals in its last eight games.
Serra edged Charleroi, 4-3, in their first meeting.
Charleroi's next game is Monday at home against Bentworth.
Belle Vernon Area 2, Thomas Jefferson 1
The Lady Leps snapped their three-game losing skid in Class AA Section 4 when freshman Hayden Pascoe scored on an assist from Julee Perischetti with 3:42 remaining.
BVA's Caitlin Pasternak scored in the opening two minutes on an assist from Lauren Kovalchuk with TJ's Allie Geary tying the game with 12 minutes to go.
"It was nice to play at home and come out on top tonight," said BVA coach Paul Sasko. "We really passed and possessed the ball well and also had plenty of opportunities. Our defense (Sarah Wurmlinger, Katie Lewis, Heather Wells and Kylee Kikta) played great and supported the attack very well."
The Lady Leps (6-4, 5-3) go to Keystone Oaks Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. contest.
Mt. Lebanon 2, Ringgold 0
The Lady Rams were blanked for their third straight Class AAA Section 4 game.
Audrey Cillo and Kate Touscany scored goals for the second-place Lady Blue Devils (7-1-2, 5-1), who've won all their games by shutouts.
Ringgold (4-4-1, 2-4) resumes Friday at Oakland Catholic in a 4 p.m. game.
Chartiers-Houston 2, Monessen 1
The Lady Greyhounds' losing streak reached four with the overtime defeat in Class A Section 2.
Natawsja Sosnak scored for Monessen (2-8-1, 1-6).
Monessen hosts Langley at 7:45 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
Laurel Highlands 7, Bentworth 4
Cassie Martin scored four goals for the Lady Mustangs, who avenged a 4-3 loss to the Lady Bearcats.
Kelsey Plute, Mackenzie Jones and Erin Ritzer scored for Bentworth (6-5).
The Lady Bearcats host South Allegheny at 11 a.m. Saturday.
