To the Editor: Every year there are stories from people about trick-or-treat, and how it is unfair that kids from other neighborhoods come trick or treating. This year is no exception. I bought 102 full-sized candy bars this year, plus I had 10 granola bars. Trick or Treat began at 6:00. By 6:30, I had to turn off my light. I live in Speers. I saw cars, trucks and vans with Greyhound and Leopards and other school stickers on them. By the time my neighbor brought her two-year-old over, I was down to 25 candy bars. I had to turn some of my other neighbors away, and went to buy more candy hoping that when they back through, they would notice my light was turned on again and stop. This trick or treat "see how much we can get" frenzy has got to stop. Every year it is suggested that the towns plan their events on the same night. It never happens. Why can't Charleroi, Bentleyville, Monessen, Monongahela and Californina borough officials (and their suburbs) get together for this once-a-year event and say the Saturday before Halloween is the day for all parades and trick or treat⢠Is it that difficult to do?
