Sewickley Academy shuts out Carlynton

Sewickley Academy (19-1-2) recorded a 5-0 victory over Carlynton in a rematch of the Class A quarterfinal match of 2006.

Midfielders Matt Kaye and Sam Dunderdale each recorded two goals, and goalkeeper Taylor Pakacs made four saves.

Sewickley Academy advanced to the semifinals Tuesday against Shady Side Academy at a site to be determined.

Steel Valley 4, Knoch 3 (2OT)

Steel Valley, seeded No. 1 in the Class AA boys tournament, remained undefeated at 18-0-2 after a double-overtime victory against Knoch (14-4-4).

Shady Side Academy 3, East Allegheny 0

Midfielder Charlie Phillips scored two goals, and forward Christian Petredis scored one, leading Shady Side Academy (20-2) to victory in the Class A quarterfinals at Steel Valley.

Edwin Niederberger recorded an assist, and goalkeeper Sean Hannon made five saves for Shady Side.
