A sex-change operation turned into a get-out-of-jail-free card for a Bulgarian man.
The Ananova News Agency reports that under the country's law Albena Mihailova is a different person now that she has changed her sex. That means she cannot be punished for anything done by Sretko Istkov.
Istkov was arrested for theft last year and released on bail. The case has now been dropped because of the sex change.
Mihailova said that she wants to marry and have a completely new and legal life as a woman after always feeling unhappy as a man.
