Shaler senior Brianna Schwartz on Saturday added to her list of distinguished accomplishments.

Schwartz, a three-time WPIAL cross country champion and PIAA champ, finished first at the 36th annual Foot Locker Cross Country Championships Northeast Regional at Van Courtlandt Park in New York.

Schwartz, a Colorado recruit, finished the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 36 seconds.

Alex Ostberg of Darien, Conn., won the boys title in 15:18.

The top-10 boys and girls finishers advance to face the top finishers from the South, Midwest and West regionals at the national finals Dec. 13 at Balboa Park in San Diego.

Schwartz placed sixth in last year’s national championships.

She will have familiar faces with her in San Diego.

North Allegheny junior Madeleine Davison placed fourth Saturday at 17:54, and Mt. Lebanon junior Kelsey Potts took eighth at 18:02.
