Garbage singer Shirley Manson is working on her first solo album.

Manson told Billboard.com she's keeping the schedule for the project open-ended and has decided to just have as much fun as possible doing it.

"I'm sort of sick of timetables, to be honest," she said. "I just want to live my life a little freely and not adhere to any schedule -- just make music and have fun."

She went to London last week and cut a track with David Arnold, her collaborator for the theme song of the 1999 James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough."

"It was really quick and fast and it was really good fun," said.

Garbage is on an indefinite hiatus but the band has not split, she said.

"We're still together, absolutely. We all feel like we want to go off and do a variety of things," she said. "(Drummer) Butch (Vig) is going back into production and some other guys are working on film soundtracks."
