The national office of the Sigma Pi fraternity has suspended its Colorado State University branch after a girl was found dead at their house. CSU sophomore Samantha Spady, 19, was found Sunday in the frat house with a fatal blood-alcohol level, the Denver Post reported Wednesday. The suspension means all social activities will cease, said Mark Briscoe, national executive director for the Brentwood, Tenn.-based Sigma Pi. The fraternity has been investigated by Fort Collins police before and has been disciplined by the university as recently as last spring for alcohol violations, CSU officials say. Fraternity members, many of whom remained in their house just off the CSU campus, declined to comment. “The young men at Sigma Pi are grieving,” said Anne Hudgens, CSU executive director of campus life. “Samantha was a friend; many of them considered her their friend.” © Copyright 2004 by United Press International
