A accident involving five westbound vehicles and a tractor-trailer heading eastbound closed both lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from New Stanton to Breezewood for more than three hours Sunday night.

The accident occurred at 5:41 p.m. at mile marker 140, near the Bedford exit, according to state police in Harrisburg. The westbound lanes were reopened at 9:15 p.m., and the eastbound lanes were reopened shortly after that.

The length of the closure -- 90 miles between exits 75 and 161 -- was necessary because the tractor-trailer rolled over and was on fire, police said.

There were injuries, but no one was killed, police said.

No further information was available.
