This Halloween the Scottdale community will have a full day of ghostly activities if they choose to take advantage of them.
Oct. 31 will begin with a Halloween parade at 1 p.m., followed by trick-or-treating from 2 to 4 p.m. in the borough.
The day will be capped off at 7 p.m. with a second performance of "Sleepy Hollow" at the Geyer Performing Arts Center.
Director Patti Franks said it's a show the whole family would enjoy.
"With the parade and trick-or-treat on Saturday, I hope parents will bring their kids to the performance since they will already be dressed up and in the Halloween spirit," she said.
The first performance of "Sleepy Hollow" will actually be at 7 p.m. Friday. The last performance will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets for all shows are $5 each.
This is the fourth show Franks has directed, although she has acted in numerous plays and performances.
"When you're acting, you are only responsible for your line and blocking, but when you're directing, you have to know the whole thing and you try to make sure the actors know their blocking and lines and everything else," Franks said. "Hopeful the show goes off without a hitch."
"Sleepy Hollow" begins when Ichabod Crane ( Brian Howard), a slightly goofy schoolmaster, comes to the farming community of Sleepy Hollow with all his worldly possessions. He's looking for a good life and a wealthy wife who will supply it.
Once he sets his eyes on the local beauty, Katrina Van Tassel (Ciarra Bush), he is sure his dream will come true, except Katrina has a boyfriend, Brom Bones (Brett Eberhart Jr.), who is extremely jealous.
To complicate matters, the graveyard is haunted by a small army of restless spirits (Jen Overly, Jacob Stokes and John Wisilosky), including the most famous phantom of all, the Headless Horseman (John Cunnard).
At a party, Ichabod proposes marriage to Katrina but is thrown out by Brom and forced to make his way home through a terrible storm.
In the dark, there is something shadowy and towering, intent on taking Ichabod's life -- the Headless Horseman!
Ichabod has to outrun the galloping phantom, but no one knows for sure because the schoolmaster is never seen again.
Rounding out the cast are: Mrs Trenkler (Lisa Earnesty), Farmer Stuvysant (John Wisilosky), Mrs. Van Tassel (Cindy Klingensmith), Widow Van Doorn (Dottie Davis), Mrs. Van Hudson (Allison Kring), Greta (Katie Wisilosky), Yost (Ben Pimental), Jessica Van Twiller (Jessica Stouffer), Cameron Van Twiller (Cameran Smith), Johanna Van Tropp (Kara Grenell), Hedrick (Joshua Lankey) and Wilda Van Doorn (Alyia Pimental).
