Smith: Bead Yourself store opens in Bridgeville

Bead Yourself has opened at 408 Station St., Bridgeville.

Owner and Bridgeville resident Jeanne Vanderpool lived for many years in Santa Fe, N.M., where the Native American jewelry continues to influence her jewelry designs.

She has been beading since she was a child in Canonsburg, where she would purchase seed beads at the former McCrory's and create jewelry necklaces, rings and bracelets by stringing shells, nuts, seeds and feathers on her father's fishing line.

The store recently hosted the Upper St. Clair Newcomer's Club for a Ladies Night Out and she is beginning to host children's parties on Saturday afternoons.

Currently the store is open 1 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and closed Wednesdays and Sundays.

She also custom-designs jewelry for wedding parties and by special order.
