Soap actor Don Stewart dead at age 70
Actor Don Stewart, who played Michael Bauer for 16 years on the CBS soap opera, "Guiding Light," has died in Santa Barbara, Calif., at age 70.
Bauer died Jan. 9 of lung cancer, Daily Variety reported Monday.
The New York native spent six years as an Air Force pilot before leaving the service to pursue a career in show business.
He joined "Guiding Light" in 1968 and in 1984 left the New York-based soap for Los Angeles, where he did commercial work, TV guest appearances, some stage and nearly 20 films, Variety said.
Among his film credits were "Lost," "American Ninja" and the animated film "Rover Dangerfield" as the voice of Clem.
Stewart also appeared in the 1987 TV movie, "The Betty Ford Story" and did daytime stints with "The Young and the Restless" and "Santa Barbara."
