Somerset County couple charged with having supplies for meth lab

A Somerset County couple were charged this week with possessing ingredients to operate a methamphetamine laboratory after troopers executed a search warrant at their home.

Justin Custer, 24, and Christen Carr, 22, both of Southampton Township in the southeastern portion of the county near the Bedford County border, were charged Tuesday after state police in Somerset executed a search warrant at their home on Palo Alto Road.

Police said they received a tip about a “meth lab” operating at the residence. When troopers went to the home the next day, they “found evidence that meth was being produced,” police said in a news release.

Troopers said the state police clandestine laboratory team was called in to assist with the investigation.

“Numerous items were collected which are used in the production of meth,” Trooper Joseph Kozuch said.

Police said the investigation is continuing and ask that anyone who may have information telephone (814) 445-4104.

The two also are charged with manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Custer was arraigned before Meyersdale District Judge Douglas M. Bell and ordered held in the county jail after failing to post $500 bail. Custer was charged via summons.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled Nov. 25 before Bell.
